Q17. Discuss
the role of an individual in conservation of natural resources. 3
Ans. Every individual plays an
important role in conservation of natural resources. One should not be selfish
to spend the available resources without thinking of others. There is no limit
to spend natural resources if available but at the same time one should realize
that natural resources are exhaustible and non-renewable sources. The future
also depends on such resources. So we should use them wisely.
Q18. Discuss
two methods to improve your flexibility. 3
Ans. 1. Static stretching is the form of stretching that most people are
familiar from childhood gym classes. These are stretches done in a sitting or
Otherwise stationary position.
2. Dynamic stretching should
always be done before static stretching. Dynamic stretching includes motion and
is meant to mimic and exaggerate the movements of actual exercise and daily
motions. This is a much safer form of stretching.
Q19. List
down common postural deformities and explain flat foot. 3
Ans. The common postural
deformities are:
(a) Flat Foot
(b) Knock Knee
(c) Bow Legs
(d) Deformity of spinal
Flat foot is a deformity of the feet. In this
deformity, there is no arc in the foot and the foot is completely flat, which
may cause pain in the foot during running and walking.
Q20. What
is league tournament? Explain the main advantage of league tournament. 5

Q21. Elaborate
the physical and physiological benefits of exercise for children.5
Ans. The following are the
physical and physiological benefits of exercise on children
(a) It
strengthens the heart. The heart is a muscle. Like other muscles, its performance
improves when it is regularly challenged by exercise. The heart responds to
exercise by becoming stronger and more efficient.
(b) It
controls weight. When
a person is sedentary, he tends to take in more calories than they are needed.
(c) It
improves energy levels. Regular exercise often makes people feel more energetic,
allows them to be more active, and reduces the likelihood that they’ll tire
during the day.
d) It
strengthens bones. Just
as muscles grow stronger when physically stressed, bones also respond by
getting stronger. Exercise increases bone density.
Q22. How
can you judge a person to become a good leader? 5
Ans. A leader is a person who
lives with integrity, inspires his followers to adopt their own ideals which
make them more willing to support his vision. For the success or achievement in

6. They surround themselves with peers who push
them to be better.
7. They don’t pretend to know everything.
8. They welcome valid criticism.
Q23. Describe
physiological factors determining component of physical fitness.
Ans. Physiological factors
determining components of physical fitness are:
(a)
Muscular strength: This
is the maximum force or tension, a muscle or a muscle group can exert against a
resistance. Physiologically the muscle will increase in strength only if it has
to increase its workload beyond what is ordinarily required of it.
(b)
Power: This
is the ability of the body to release maximum muscle contraction in the
shortest possible time.
(c)
Speed: This
is the rapidity with which one can repeat successive movements in the same
pattern.
(d)
Muscular endurance: This
is the ability of a muscle or muscle group to perform repeated contractions against
a resistance load or to sustain contraction for an extended period time with
less discomfort and more rapid recovery.
(e)
Agility: This
is the ability of a person to change direction or body position as quickly as
possible and regain body control to proceed with another movement.
(f)
Flexibility: This
is a quality of the muscles, ligaments and tendons that enables the joints of
the body to move easily through a complete range of movements.
Q24. Give
the definition of the following: 5
a. Work
b. Power
c. Energy
d. Static
Friction
e. Angular
Motion
Ans.
(a) Work
refers to an activity involving a force and the movement in the direction of
the force. It can also be defined as the work done by a constant force as the
product of the force and the distance moved in the direction of the force.
Work = Force x Distance
(b) Power
is
the rate of doing work or the rate of using energy. The above definition can be
expressed as an equation.
Power = Work/Time
(c) Energy
is
the capacity to do work. However, there are various forms of energy but in the
field of games and sports our main concern is about mechanical energy.
Mechanical energy is the combination of kinetic and potential energy.
(d) Static Motion: The opposing force that comes into play when one
body tends to move over the surface of another but the actual motion has not
yet started, is called static friction.
(e) Angular
motion is
also referred to as rotatory motion. It occurs when all points on a body or
object move in circular or circular parts of circle about the same fix central
line or axis. Angular motion can occur about an axis with the body or outside
the body.
Q25. Define
motivation. Explain its types and techniques? 5
Ans. Motivation is a need or
desire that serves to energize behavior and to direct it towards a goal.
Motivation can be divided into two types:
Intrinsic
Motivation: This
type of motivation is directly linked with the natural instincts. The
individual who is intrinsically or naturally motivated, performs an act because
he finds interest within the activity.
Extrinsic
Motivation:
Extrinsic motivation refers to behavior that is driven by external rewards such
as money, fame, grades, and praise.
Technique
of Motivation
(a) Praise and Blame
(b) Reward and Punishment
(c) Presence of Opposite Sex
(d) Knowledge of Progress
(e) Competition
Q26. What
do you mean by coordinative abilities and elaborate the types of coordinative
abilities. 5
Ans. Coordination is the ability
to repeatedly execute a sequence of movements smoothly and accurately. This may
involve the senses, muscular contractions and joint movements. Everything that
we participate in, requires the ability to coordinate our limbs to achieve a successful
outcome - from walking to the more complex movements of athletic events like
the pole vault.
Types
of coordinative abilities
(a) Balance
ability is
understood as an ability to keep body or its parts in a relatively stable
position.
(b) Combinatory
ability is
understood as an ability to simultaneously put partial movements together into
more complex movement structures.
(c) Kinesthetic
differentiation ability means an ability to realize kinematic and dynamic features
of movement.
(d) Orientation
ability is
an ability to realize position of the body or its parts in space and time.
(e) Rhythm
ability
enables to grasp and meteorically express rhythm which is externally determined
or contained in the motor activity itself.
